LA SALLE-MATERIAL Architecture for the
class on Thursday, November 12
First tell you that
the material you already had prepared for the LINIA class, don't worry, we will
use it on November 5. In any case, part of that material, such as pencils and
markers, will be common to all sessions, so the next day they will also be welcome!
I give you the list
of material:
Drawing notebook (sketches
notebook): A5 size notebook (it is important that it is a notebook, not loose
sheets). The paper weight can range from a minimum of 80g and a maximum of 280
/ 300g (recommended for watercolor). If you choose a weight of 280 / 300g it is
ideal for painting in watercolor, paper with a lower weight of 80g can also be
painted in watercolor, but let's say it would be "wrinkled" by
humidity, but I have to say that it also has its charm , that is, you choose
the one you like the most.
Pencils: We will
use soft pencils, that is, from HB to 6B, 8B ... as many B as you want!!!!, you
already know that the softer they are, the more graphite they leave on the
paper, that is, the dirtier they are. You don't need to have all the numbers,
just a couple that you want to research with.
Markers / ink: The world
of the marker is very complex and extensive, so I would tell you to bring a
little what you have or whatever you want. For example, I like to draw with a
G-TEC-C4 fine point pilot, but there are also different thicknesses if you
prefer a thicker line like the pilot V5 and the super thick pilot V-Sign-Pen.
Here is a link with some markers that are also good and there are different
thicknesses:

Of course there are
not only black ink markers, there are also other colors, I especially like the
sepia ink ones.
Watercolor box:
Recommended brands: Winsor & Newton, Schmincke. You don't need a box with
too many colors, a 12 is more than enough.
Brushes: There are
many types of brushes, you can bring the ones you already have, but if you plan
to make a small expense, I recommend a travel brush with red sable hair. The
thickness of the brush is interesting that it is not too thin, rather thick,
flat brushes also have their point ... in any case with two brushes, one of No.
6 and the other of 10 is more than enough.
There are also
brushes with a built-in water tank, they are very useful for when we draw on
the road and we do not have water at hand.
Soft techniques: waxes
(type dacs, manley, etc ...), charcoal, graphite, sanguine ... we will also
need fixing spray or lacquer for the drawings that we do with soft technique,
thus we will make sure that the pigment is fixed to the paper. In addition,
there is another series of material associated with soft techniques in case you
want to try, such as a smudger (a kind of long white tube with a tip), bread
crumb rubber (this rubber allows us to erase the charcoal without spreading the
pigment).
Other materials:
watercolor pencils, colored pencils, eraser, pencil sharpeners, tissues or a
mini sponge or cloth (to absorb the water from the watercolors), cup or bottle
to put the water from the watercolors, toothbrush (if , yes, you have
understood correctly), glue, cuts, scissors ...
With this list I intend to list a small sample of material that we can use during the course, however, it is not mandatory to have all the material, if any of you just want to draw with a certain technique then go ahead, or if on the contrary you can think of any another with which to investigate, well… what it is about is that you draw intensively throughout the course and have the best possible time.
